There are beautiful views overlooking the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with the Cordillera Vilcabamba and the snow-capped peak of Salkantay dominating the western horizon. Chinchero is believed to be the mythical birthplace of the rainbow.

DAY 5: Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu

At 09:30hs, meet in the lobby of the hotel for your private transfer to Ollantaytambo train station, from where you will travel to Machu Picchu on board the Vistadome train accompanied by your guide: departure: at 10:32hs / arrival: at 12:11hs.

Visit this unique Inca citadel and its surrounding complexes on a half day private visit. Machu Picchu stands 2,430 m above sea-level, in the middle of a tropical mountain forest, in an extraordinarily beautiful setting. It was probably the most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire at its height; its giant walls, terraces and ramps seem as if they have been cut naturally in the continuous rock escarpments. The natural setting, on the eastern slopes of the Andes, encompasses the upper Amazon basin with its rich diversity of flora and fauna.

Or just relax and continue exploring this magnificent citadel.
